Big money saving possibilities when making your own snacks vs purchasing the pre made variety at stores…

One of my favorite recipes

“puppy chow”

Recipe is very simple too!

Butter – 1/4 cup

Chex cereal – 9 cups

Chocolate chips – 1 cup

Peanut butter – 1/2 cup

Powdered sugar – 3 cups

Vanilla extract – 1/2 teaspoon

• Combine the butter, chocolate chips, peanut butter, and vanilla extract in microwave safe bowl, heat for 1 minute in microwave and stir until combined and smooth.  
• Pour mixture over chex cereal in large bowl (I used our large spaghetti cooking pot which has plenty of room) and mix well with a spoon.
• Place powdered sugar in large ziploc plastic bag and add mixture in batches to coat.
•  OR I left my mixture in my spaghetti pot, added the powdered sugar to the mixture, covered with matching lid and vigorously shook.  (I did this outside due to some powder sugar finding its way out of the container since its not completely sealed)

And I must say this is a very addicting snack in my home…

and the small price to make it is well worth it!
